Brief information about the tour

Our 4-day Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari includes a double experience of tracking gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is located in southern Uganda, around 9 hour’s drive from Kampala. Because you will be seeing two distinct gorilla families during your safari, your hotel facilities may alter depending on where you will be trekking gorillas from.

Day By Day Tour Summary

  • Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
  • Day 2: Gorilla tracking and community visit (Bwindi)
  • Day 3: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi, followed by a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
  • Day 4: Departure

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, your guide will greet you and brief you on your four-day safari before you begin on the approximately nine-hour trip to Bwindi Forest. Along the way, you’ll stop at the equator to take photos and buy some crafts before continuing on to Mbarara for lunch. Following lunch, you will continue your drive through the lovely countryside, rolling hills with terraces, until you reach Kabale, widely known as the Switzerland of Africa. Eat dinner and sleep.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking and community visit (Bwindi)

Enjoy your breakfast and depart from your accommodation with a packed lunch to the park headquarters at 7 a.m. for a briefing before embarking on gorilla tracking in the dense mist of the Bwindi forest. Next, proceed to track, which takes between 2 and 6 hours, depending on how far the gorillas go.

Trekkers are granted one hour with the gentle giants, during which time they can play, feed, and take pictures. Return to the lodge, relax for a while, and then go for a communal stroll around the Batwa village in the evening. Enjoy your food and sleep.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi, followed by a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Before going gorilla tracking, get up early enough to eat breakfast and bring a packed lunch from the lodge. You will follow the same procedure as the first day, but you will track a different gorilla group than the previous day.

After the trip, you will be driven to Lake Bunyonyi, which has 29 islands and is an excellent spot for birds; its waters are Bilharzia-free and safe for swimming. You will eat your meal and spend the night on this side.

Day 4: Departure

After a great breakfast, go off on a boat journey on Lake Bunyonyi, where you will sail around several islands and see terraced hills, birds, and other attractions. After that, begin your journey to Kampala, stopping for lunch along the way and arriving late at night. Your guide will either transport you to your Kampala hotel or to the airport for your trip home.
