Chimpanzee trekking activities in Uganda usually last 2 to 5 hours and include people moving through national parks in search of chimps. During trekking, they are always accompanied by park rangers and guides who lead them through because they are familiar with all the parts of these areas. Later, when the species is located, the trekkers are given one hour to spend with the species and this allows them to observe and learn about the behaviours and characters as well as watch their daily life, such as how they eat and feed their young ones.
Furthermore, travellers are recommended to use several tactics for easier ways of finding these animals, such as tracking the foot prints of the chimps in the park, following where there are broken tree branches, identifying locations with food left overs, and many others. Before the trek, tourists are always divided into groups of no more than six people, and all participants must be at least 16 years old. This activity is not recommended for young children because their behaviour may appear unpredictable in the presence of the chimps.
