Rwanda Luxury gorilla trips and primate safari
Rwanda Luxury gorilla trips and primate safari | Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe forest National Park | Africa Gorilla trekking safaris
Rwanda is famous for mountain gorilla tracking at Volcanoes National Park, but it also has golden monkeys and chimpanzees. Chimpanzees may be found in the Nyungwe Forest National Park and, to a lesser extent, in the Gishwati Forest. Chimpanzees are sociable creatures who live in large groups and wander about every day, looking for food and occasionally hunting smaller mammals. Each night, they construct new nests in the trees.
It’s incredible to observe mountain gorillas in the wild, with their vocalisations echoing through the forest as they bond with one another. Tracking begins early in the morning and can last anywhere from an hour to several hours depending on where they are, with visitors spending no more than one hour with them once they are located.
Because the terrain can be steep, slippery, and muddy while traversing through dense foliage, appropriate footwear and a certain degree of fitness are required. Monumental Expeditions and Safari can arrange for gorilla permits. Contact us with the dates you want to track the gorillas, and we will check the availability of gorilla permits with the Rwanda Development Board as well as all other services as per your planned Rwanda Luxury Primate Gorilla Trips and Primate Safari in advance so that we can book your tour on the dates and accommodations of your choice.
What is the best way to get there?
Volcanoes National Park is located in Musanze, formerly known as Ruhengeri, and is easily accessible by public transportation from Gisenyi, Kigali City, or the Kigali International Airport. The trip to Volcanoes National Park takes around 2–3 hours, so you may go gorilla tracking and then drive back to Kigali on the same day. You must get to the National Park headquarters in Kinigi by 7:00 a.m., therefore if you want to hike gorillas for one day, you must wake up extremely early to ensure that you reach on time. However, there is no public transit from Musanze to the National Park headquarters in Kinigi.
When is the best time to visit Rwanda for luxury gorilla treks and primate safaris?
Visiting Rwanda for gorilla monitoring is possible all year. The ideal time to visit Rwanda is during the dry season, which runs from December to early March and June to September. Rwanda has a long dry season from December to March, with temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius on certain days, but the months of March to May, and July to September are considered wet in the nation.
Overall, Rwanda enjoys nice weather all year; however, the dry season is better. The weather is often pleasant, and animal watching is more prevalent during this time of year. Tourists interested in meeting mountain gorillas should visit during this season since there is a low probability of rain and decent climbing terrain in the jungle. Even during the dryer months, we recommend wearing waterproof apparel because the equatorial environment is unpredictable. This is also a busy season, so rates for things like lodging, vehicle rental, and so on may be higher.
On the other side, some visitors, particularly those on a tight budget, prefer to visit during the rainy season. Hotels have low occupancy during this season, so they offer travellers discounted meals and sleeping services, which is an extra benefit. Furthermore, there is a limited demand for gorilla permits, ensuring that tourists get an opportunity to witness these endangered creatures with little competition.
