GORILLA AND CHIMPANZEE FILMING ACTIVITIES HAVE ALSO RESUMED IN UGANDA
The most exhilarating adventurous activity in Uganda is filming of Gorillas and Chimpanzees, this grants you a clearer chance to learn & generate awareness/alertness of conservation of these Primates (Gorillas & Chimpanzees). So with the Re-opening of the Uganda Primate National Parks, filming of Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees is now possible. This activity of filming Mountain Gorillas is conducted from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, whereas filming of Chimpanzees is well conducted from Kibale National Park, Kalinzu forest & Budongo forest close to Murchison falls National Park, and Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Filming of these endangered species does necessitates you to secure all required permissions in-order to be accepted to film in Uganda National parks. GORILLA AND CHIMPANZEE FILMING FEES
There are newly introduced fees on Filming & Photography activities in the Uganda National parks with the Primate National parks inclusive by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This started effectively 1st June 2020, the UWA is clearly charging 40% of any filming activity fee,10% monitoring fees to cater for monitoring of all filming activities & damages that may result during the activity (Filming) in any given park. When it comes to charges of those filming mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, every individual on the crew is charged $700 for the Gorilla permit and then $280 as the 40% of the Gorilla permit and by the way this fee will grant you an opportunity to be able film the mountain Gorillas for strictly 1hr during the meeting with them (Mountain Gorillas).When it comes to those interested for more or prolonged hours, you will pay $1500-Gorilla Habituation Experience permit and $600 as 40% of the permit in Bwindi forest National park.
When it comes to filming Chimpanzees in Kibale National park and Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, still the UWA will charge 40% of the Kibale Chimpanzee permits and Kyambura Gorge Chimpanzee permits. You will be required to pay for the Chimpanzees permits at the destinations of interest and then the 40% monitoring charges separately. Given the fact that its during COVID-19 period all individuals on the crew will be advised to follow the put- in- place SOPs and COVID-19 anticipatory protections as being set by the Government of Uganda.
