Brief information about the tour

This 5-day Gorillas and Game Safari will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward in Uganda. This channel boasts the biggest concentration of hippos in the world, as well as over 700 different bird species. On a ‘good’ day, a sail along the Kazinga Channel might expose you to more species than any single game drive. You will next go to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you will get the opportunity to hike one of the habituated families of mountain gorillas. This 5-day gorilla and game safari begins and concludes in Entebbe.

DAY 1: To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will travel to Lake Bunyonyi, which is located on the eastern edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Your guide will make stops at the Equator crossing at Kayabwe for pictures, a brief discussion, and some experiments before continuing to Mbarara for lunch. En route, you will pass through banana plantations, farmland, and the magnificent highlands of Kigezi before arriving at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tervan Lodge in Bwindi for the night.

5-day Gorillas and Game SafariDAY 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park

After an early breakfast and a packed lunch, your guide will bring you to Ruhija Park Headquarters for registration and briefings at 7:45 a.m. Your guides will lead you through the dense creepers and vegetation in your quest to discover the gorillas. This walk might take anywhere from 30 minutes to three quarters of a day. The densely wooded area is crisscrossed by numerous animal pathways that provide access to tourists. The amount of time you spend on the walk is primarily determined by the gorillas’ movements. But it’s an incredible experience to be around these lovely but endangered creatures.

DAY 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will drive for Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda, arriving in time for lunch at Elephant Hab or Pumba Safari Cottages. After lunch, you will have time to unwind before embarking on an evening wildlife drive across Kasenyi’s Savannah plains. The Kasenyi plains are home to herds of buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes, as well as big cats like lions and leopards, which can be observed with sheer chance. Return to your resort for an overnight stay.

5-day Gorillas and Game SafariDAY 4: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

This morning, you will return to the Plains of Kasenyi for another early game drive to see what you may have missed on the previous drive. Lunch will be provided at the lodge. After lunch, we’ll go to the jetty along the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat ride. This voyage allows you to see wildlife such as hippos, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and many types of water birds.

DAY 5: To Kampala/Entebbe or Airport

After breakfast, travel back to Kampala’s Entebbe International Airport for your next flight out.
