Brief information about the tour

A 1-day rhino tracking safari provides you with a closer look at one of Africa’s Big Five. A short drive north of Kampala brings us past terraced hillsides to the grassy plains at Nakitoma Village, Nakasongola District, in the Kafu River Basin, off the Kampala-Gulu Highway. The sanctuary is a remote Ugandan habitat for the southern white rhinoceros that is being progressively reintroduced into Uganda’s national parks while also allowing a visiting visitor on a Uganda tour to experience a Rhino tracking tour.

Day By Day Tour Summary

  • Day 1 ziwa rhino tracking and departure

Day 1: of 1 Day Rhino Tracking Safari; ziwa rhino tracking and departure

Get up early and get picked up by a tour guide from your hotel or apartment by 7 a.m. Travel extremely early in the morning since this allows the driver/guide to avoid traffic jams and complete the three-hour trip on schedule. The exciting park takes us through Kampala City, Nakasongo, Uganda highways, mountain relief, and the Ziwa Rhino reserve.

Then you’ll make a stop at Luwero triangle to pick up some fruits for the day before driving into the city. In Ugandan history, Luwero is famous for the terrible bush war that brought the present governing regime to power.

We continue to Nakasogola, where you will observe cattle grazing as you travel to the Rhino refuge. Finally, you reach the natural ecosystem by navigating the Rwanyanya Swamp, which features humps, compressed ditches with potholes, and stone rivers that slash through savannah grass species where a trail is obstructed. Allow an expert game ranger to lead you. We will have a trip through the habitat as the guide informs you while you listen to the intriguing facts.

1 Day Rhino Tracking SafariSpend 1-2 hours with the Rhinos as they munch on grass, enjoying their unrestricted movements while you keep a safe distance and study them carefully. . This encounter with the southern white Rhino will provide you with an opportunity to interact with the second-largest creature after the elephant and the largest in the Rhino group.

The sanctuary is home to at least 40 animals, reptiles, tree species, and water basins, in addition to Rhino trekking. See the crocodiles and other activities that you may experience, such as birdwatching, where you may notice several bird species, such as the swamp’s most frequented shoebill, African blue fly catcher, African wide bill, Brown parrot, African fish eagle, and so on.

You may also see black and white colobus monkeys moving around and climbing over trees, as well as antelopes, hippos, canoeing at Ziwa swamp, and the nature trail. Enjoy your journey walking the Rhinos, then have lunch at Kabalega and return to Kampala by 6 p.m. For those who want to remain overnight, there are nearby lodgings such as the Amka safari lodge in the reserve, cheap guest houses, and restaurants that serve meals to tourists.
