Brief information about the tour
1 day Ngamba Island Safari is a short Uganda Safari location but with a plethora of safari facilities not to be missed on your Holiday Safari at Ngamba Island Island, you will visit the home of over 49 orphaned chimpanzees rescued from the illicit pet and bushmeat trade throughout East Africa. Ngamba Island has it all: it’s isolated and sheltered in the centre of Lake Victora’s pure waters, it offers a wonderful true Chimpanzee experience, and it’s also a paradise for various modern activities to keep you toasty throughout the day.
Day-by-Day Tour Summary
Day 1 : visit ngamba island and departure
Your 1-day Ngamba Island Safari will include a pick-up and drop-off at your hotel/residence for your chimpanzee island tour in Uganda. You will be taught on the 1-day trip to Ngamba Island by a professional tour guide from monumental expeditions before driving to the mainland Lake Victoria coasts and boarding your speed boat. You will be given a lifeguard jacket and a raincoat for your trip to the island.
Take a little rough journey over Lake Victoria as you cross the equator on water.
Observe a few birds hunting for fish in the lake and on Ngamba Island’s adjacent islands. When you get on the island, you will be greeted by a member of the Ngamba island sanctuary personnel as well as a swarm of weaver birds and sun-bathing monitor lizards greeting you into the Chimpanzee island.
Your island guide will accompany you to a complementary breakfast of tea/coffee and a snack while you wait for the chimps’ second feeding at 11:00 . Visit the stunning landscape of the chimp habitat, view some of the plants that work as herbs for the chimps, such as the luwawu tree, which is a de-wormer for them, and learn about some of the equipment taken from poachers that was used to hunt the chimps. Finally, see the chimps from an elevated platform.
You may feed them while listening to the stories about the many chimps. Observe their behaviour, and they will do the same, and here you may capture photos of your favourite chimp and make memories. You will be shown their holding area, where they sleep and eat breakfast. Proceed from the chimp observation platform to the garden, where volunteers help to raise food for the chimpanzees. Visit the record-keeping office, where each chimp’s records are kept and gathered every day.
Visit the grocery store where the food from the mainland is kept; the stock is replenished every five days. Finally, while in the holding room, see a demonstration of how the chimps are fed. Following that, you will be treated to a fantastic meal made by the Chef. After your dinner, you can engage in additional activities such as sunbathing, volley ball, and taking more photographs. We will retire, and our tour company will assist you in returning to the mainland for your onward flight to Entebbe Airport or your accommodation.
There are two visiting sessions: morning and afternoon. The morning session departs from the mainland at 9:00 a.m. and returns at 2:15 p.m. Then there’s the afternoon session, which leaves at noon and returns at 5 p.m.
