Brief information about the tour
This 3 Day Gorilla Habituation Experience Road Tour is the first of its kind, taking you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for three unforgettable nights and one day of gorilla habituation experience. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is well-known for having about half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas. It’s an amazing environment where mountain gorillas coexist with wild chimps. Until recently, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was known for gorilla trekking, but with the introduction of gorilla habituation experience by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, individuals who want to spend more time with gorillas might consider taking our three-day gorilla habituation experience road trip.
Day-by-Day Tour Summary
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi impenetrable park
You will be met by a Monumental Expedition and Safaris driving guide to begin your three-day gorilla habituation experience road journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Our safaris often begin very early in the morning, with breaks at the Equator crossing for photos and a lunch break in Mbarara. You will next go to the southern portion of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is where gorilla habituation is now taking place. This route is particularly attractive, as you may view the Kigezi undulating hills and valleys on your way to Kisoro or the southern portion of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Day
You will arrive at the park headquarters early in the morning to join other customers for a briefing on dos and don’ts when interacting with mountain gorillas during your habituation experience. Following the briefing, you will begin your trip through the forest, accompanied by researchers and guides. During your hike, you may come across various birds, other creatures, and primates in the jungle; after you’ve spotted the gorillas, you’ll spend four hours with them before returning to the Lodge for the night. You will get the chance to listen to and witness researchers as they habituate gorillas, and if feasible, you will be asked to contribute by collecting samples, designating group members, making calls, and so on.
Day 3: Return to Kampala.
After breakfast, depending on your departure flight, you will travel back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport to conclude your three-day gorilla habituation experience road tour.
