Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and is known for its unique biodiversity and the opportunity to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Here are some activities you can engage in at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Gorilla Trekking
The park is home to a population of endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to closely observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. You’ll be guided by experienced trackers and rangers as you hike through the park’s lush forests in search of the gorilla families. Please note that gorilla trekking requires a permit, and it’s advisable to book in advance due to limited availability.
Golden Monkey Tracking
Apart from mountain gorillas, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is also home to the rare and endangered golden monkeys. Golden monkey tracking allows you to witness these playful and colorful primates as they leap through the bamboo forests. Just like gorilla trekking, permits are required for this activity.
Volcano Hiking
The park encompasses three dormant volcanoes: Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo. These volcanic peaks offer exciting opportunities for hiking and climbing.
