Adventures on the water in Murchison Falls
Adventures on the water in Murchison Falls: Adventures aboard a boat in Murchison Falls, Since the 1950s, the most popular activity in Murchison Falls National Park has been a Nile River cruise from the park’s pier. These are planned cruises that leave every afternoon at 2.30 pm, as well as in the mornings at 08.30 am and 11.00 am as demand warrants. Pickups and drop-offs by boat from the north bank at Paraa, as well as lodges on the Nile’s southern banks, can be pre-arranged. We also offer a unique Waterfall Sundowner Trip with beverages and refreshments that depart every afternoon at 3.30 (subject to minimum numbers) and private outings on an exclusive basis.
Waterfall Cruises on Your Own
Pick-up locations and times are tailored to your adventure, depending on trip duration and boat capacity/type. Along the journey, you may see significant resident populations of hippos and crocodiles, as well as various animals and substantial bird life, including a diverse range of water birds and a massive colony of cliff-nesting red-throated bee-eaters.
Bird viewing, transfers, and a trip up the falls are all options. Trip duration and boat capacity/type are factors to consider. We can provide you with a private boat on the river for activities and times that are convenient for you. Perhaps some fishing paired with bird watching or simply soaking in the scenery and views from the boat while looking for animals along the way. Your guide might recommend excellent areas to walk or moor for a bit to enjoy your sundowners. Simply let us know what you want, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Safari and Cruise
Combining river cruises with a pre-arranged car collection can enhance your National Park experience. Travel by boat to Delta Point, then have a game drive through the game-rich Buligi region on your way back to your lodge. Alternatively, leave your boat at Fajao Gorge and trek to the top of the falls for a glimpse down into the thundering abyss before driving back to your resort.
Delta Flights
The Victoria Nile Delta, a 20-kilometer journey downstream from Paraa, is home to unique wetland bird species like the Shoebill stork and Papyrus endemics. Scheduled delta region cruises with “breakfast on board” options are available in the mornings (subject to minimum numbers) and depart from the Paraa pier at 7:00 .
