Mount Elgon National Park is a haven for birdwatchers, offering a rich and diverse avian population. The park’s varied habitats, including montane forests, bamboo zones, and moorlands, attract a wide array of bird species. Here are some of the notable birds you may encounter while birding at Mount Elgon National Park.

 

Jackson’s Francolin

This elusive bird is endemic to the region and can be found in the higher altitudes of Mount Elgon. Its distinctive call and unique plumage make it a sought-after sighting for birdwatchers.

 

Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture)
