Located in Bwamba County, a far-off area of the Bundibugyo District in the Western Region of Uganda, Semuliki National Park offers camping safaris. Made a national park in October 1993, it is among the most recent ones in Uganda. Having a 219 km2 (85 sq mi) overall area coverage. And the only tropical rain forest lowland East Africa has is here.
Semuliki National Park’s wildlife is quite unique.
There are 53 animal species in the forest; 27 are big mammals, 27 are native to the park including two fly squirrels and the pygmy antelope.The fanged deer also calls this home. Smaller than the savannah buffalo, forest elephants and buffalos also call the park home.
Among the amazing rich primate destinations in the forest are chimpanzee, baboon, grey checked Mangabeys, black and white Colobus monkey, central African red Colobus, blue monkey, red tailed monkey, de-braza’s monkey, Vervet monkey, dent’s Mona monkey, nocturnal primates include potto and bush baby. The Semuliki River has larger semi-aquatic species like hippos and crocodiles.

With 441 bird species documented, representing 40% of Uganda’s total bird species and 66% of the nation’s forest bird species, Semuliki has amazing birdlife.The riverine environment and the grasslands east of the park add to the list. The park has 46 Guinea-Congo biome species, none of which are found elsewhere in East Africa; another 35 may be spotted at three birding sites in Uganda. There are many rear birds in the park.

Recommended schedule for Day 1 camping safaris in Semuliki National Park
After arriving in the Fort Portal or Semuliki National Park, pick up from your hotel Entebbe or Kampala completely packed camping gear and drive to set up your tent in the approved campsites for nighttime.
Day Two:
Early morning travel to Semuliki National Park and start the Sempaya hot spring forest walk for guests staying at Fort Portal; customers will have morning meal and then proceed to the forest for a stunning natural hikes.
