Every two years, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) reviews the conservation rates and makes adjustments to them, adding or removing products depending on the situation. This ensures that all of Uganda’s national parks are well-protected.
In order to fund conservation efforts and community development projects, the price of chimpanzee trekking has risen from $150 to $200 per participant, each trip. The Uganda Wildlife Authority will have updated its tariffs and introduced new product pricing by July 2020.
Most visitors come to Kibale National Park for the gorilla tours, but the price of chimpanzee trekking there will go up from $150 to $200 per person, while the price in other areas, such as Kyambura, Kalinzu Forest, and Budongo Forest, will stay the same. From USD200 to USD250 per person each hike, the chimpanzee habituation permit will be raised.
The park with the highest concentration of habituated chimpanzees and those available for trekking is Kibale Forest National Park. Many visitors to Uganda come specifically to see primates like chimpanzees, gorillas, and golden monkeys.
The price of trekking gorillas will go up from $700 to $800 per person, while the price of trekking golden monkeys will go up from $50 to $100 per person. A small portion of these fees will go toward conservation and community development projects in and around the national parks Kwindi Impenetrable, Mgahinga, and Kibale Forest National Park.
For chimpanzee trekking and other wildlife safaris, including those with gorillas or other primates, Monumental Expeditions and Safaris is still the best option. If you would like additional details about chimpanzee trekking and your safari in Uganda, please contact us immediately.
