Here’s a detailed seven-day itinerary for your unforgettable safari adventure to Loango National Park.

Day 1: Arrival in Libreville – Radisson Blu Okoume Palace Hotel

Your adventure begins upon arrival at Leon Mba International Airport in Libreville, the capital of Gabon. After completing immigration formalities, our friendly staff will welcome you and transfer you to the Radisson Blu Okoume Palace Hotel, located just a short 25-minute drive from the airport.

Enjoy a relaxing evening with dinner and overnight accommodation at the hotel. This is the perfect place to rest and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 2: Libreville to Port Gentil – Journey to Loango National Park (Ndola Lodge)

On Day 2, you’ll embark on an early morning flight from Libreville to Port Gentil, the gateway to Loango National Park. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer you to a 4WD vehicle for the scenic drive to Loango National Park via Liambisi. The 4-hour journey through the lush landscapes of Gabon is a wonderful introduction to the diverse ecosystems you’ll explore.

Arriving in Loango, you’ll check into Ndola Lodge for an overnight stay. If time permits, we will venture on a short forest walk or a game drive in the park to begin spotting the incredible wildlife that calls Loango home.

Day 3: Gorilla Safari – Yatouga Research Camp and Akaka Forest

After breakfast, we’ll head out to explore the Yatouga Research Camp, where you’ll embark on an unforgettable gorilla safari. You’ll board a powered canoe for a 2-hour voyage across the serene waters of Loango National Park, eventually reaching Yatouga. This research camp is home to a habituated group of Western Lowland Gorillas, offering you a 95% chance of encountering these magnificent primates in the wild.

The gorilla safari allows for one hour of observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, where you can witness their fascinating social behaviors, feeding habits, and interactions. This experience is particularly rewarding during the wet season when the gorillas remain closer to the camp.

In the afternoon, we’ll sail southward to Akaka Forest, a pristine rainforest that is rich in biodiversity. This area is home to a variety of wildlife, including Red River Hogs, Bongo, Sitatunga, and Blue Duiker. You’ll also have the chance to observe a wide range of bird species. After a rewarding afternoon, we’ll return to Ndola Lodge for a well-deserved dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Game Drive – Exploring the Rich Fauna of Loango National Park

Day 4 is dedicated to a thrilling game drive within Loango National Park. The park is renowned for its rich wildlife, including Dwarf Buffaloes, Forest Elephants, Sitatunga, and a variety of primates such as Western Lowland Gorillas and Chimpanzees. The diverse flora of the park, including towering trees and dense vegetation, provides the perfect environment for these species to thrive.

In the afternoon, we will travel to Louri Wilderness Camp, a unique part of the park known for its incredible wildlife sightings. The journey to Louri can be done by boat, offering a scenic 30-minute journey across the park’s main lagoon, or by road, taking a 1-hour drive through dense forests. The safari experience is rewarding, with a chance to spot more wildlife along the way.

Day 5: Louri Wilderness Camp – Safari Exploration

Spend the day exploring Louri, the savannah region of the park. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife, Louri offers great opportunities to observe the famous surfing hippos that Loango National Park is renowned for. In addition to the hippos, the area is home to various other species, including elephants, gorillas, and chimpanzees.

The camp provides an immersive experience, where the sounds of nature—from animal calls to rustling trees—create a peaceful atmosphere. After a full day of exploration, return to Ndola Lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Return to Libreville

On Day 6, you’ll have a final opportunity to explore the stunning landscapes of Loango National Park. Whether you choose a morning forest hike in the coastal forest or another game drive, the day will be filled with more chances to observe the park’s incredible wildlife.

In the afternoon, we’ll return to Port Gentil via Liambissi, before flying back to Libreville. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to the Radisson Blu Okoume Palace Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure from Libreville

On your final day, enjoy some leisure time at the hotel before your international flight departs. Optional activities are available to fill the day, allowing you to explore more of Libreville before heading to the airport for your evening flight with Air France.
