Kinshasa

Virunga National Park

The borders of Rwanda and Uganda are right next to Virunga National Park Congo. An important UNESCO site and one of the best places in Congo to see gorillas. It is the largest and most biologically diverse national park in the DR Congo. In the Rwenzori Mountains, you can find savannas, woods, streams, swamps, active volcanoes, lava plains, and even glacier peaks.

Lola Ya Bonobo

Take a tour of the Congo to Lola Ya Bonobo, which is a safe place for orphaned bonobos and one of the most famous places for tourists to visit in the DRC. A must-do if you’re traveling through Congo near Kinshasa City. Scientists say that bonobos and humans are very closely related. They are only found in DR Congo, and you shouldn’t miss seeing them on your trip there.

Lake Kivu

People from both Rwanda and the DR Congo can enjoy Lake Kivu, which has a calm atmosphere. This lake is a great place to do many things during your trip to the Congo. Reserve for Wildlife in Okapi

You shouldn’t miss this on your trip through the Congo; it’s home to many kinds of monkeys and rare birds. Inside the area, there are amazing chances to go hiking to even more amazing waterfalls.
The scenery along the Epulu and Ituri rivers is truly beautiful. The forest is now home to the pygmy nomad groups of the Efe and Mbuti hunters. It is a great spot to see the really rare Okapi.

Mount Nyiragongo

The volcano in Virunga National Park, which is close to the Congolese city of Goma, makes the sky always red. In May 2021, this Nyiragongo Congo Volcano erupted, killing up to 25% of the land around it and forcing many people to leave their homes. Thirty-five times in the last one hundred years. What to do when you need a place to stay in the DR Congo

Tent Camp in Lulimbu

The Lulimbi Tented Camp is made up of ten nice canvas tents set up on the Ishasha River in the savannah lands of Virunga National Park. A lot of elephants and hippos live in the area around Lulimbi Tented Camp, which is in the middle of Virunga National Park. From this less busy, quieter spot, visitors can easily see animals that live in the savannah, talk to informed rangers, and even help protect the area. The camp is made up of a mess tent and eight bedroom tents with private bathrooms.

Food and service

A dining tent with a restaurant and bar is offered at Lulimbi Tented Camp. There is also a separate lounge tent with a bar that is well stocked. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all part of the camp fee, but drinks with booze cost extra.

Rooms

There are ten private tents at Lulimbi Tented Camp. Four of them have two twin beds, four have double beds, and two have three twin beds. There is a solar shower and a running toilet in each tent’s bathroom. All of the huts have private decks with views of the Ishasha River and hippos that are walking by.

Mikeno Lodge

The Mikeno Lodge is a high-end establishment in Virunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It provides the ideal mix of excitement and peace. The Mikeno Lodge is 90 minutes from Goma, a city in the east. It has stunning views of the rift valley, Nyiragongo, and Mikeno mountains. There are twelve houses at the Lodge. The Lodge

The main building has a thatched roof and is set in wood. It is on top of a hill and has beautiful views of the trees. The lovely open-sided dining and bar areas are where meals and cold drinks are given. This is also where people relax between activities. As the nights get cooler, there’s a stove that burns wood to keep things cozy. Wildlife probably won’t come in and out of the camp because it is ringed by electric fencing. However, keep an ear out for woodland owls and other sounds from the jungle.

Rooms

The 18 tents for two people are not only big enough, but also very comfy, with queen-sized beds, crisp white sheets, and hot water bottles tucked between the sheets for cold nights. The bathrooms that are connected to the rooms have toilets and hot baths. There are even two wall outlets for your camera or phone, lights above, and lots of water bottles that have been filled up.

Fleve Hotel in Congo

Beautifully made. A relaxing setting. Very good breakfast. The Fleuve Congo Hotel by Blazon Hotels is in Kinshasa, 9 minutes by car from the Symphonie des Arts. The swimming pool is open all year and there is free WiFi. There is also a tennis court. The rooms are private and have air conditioning. They come with a closet, desk, minibar, and flat-screen TV.

Many of the hotel rooms have a living room and an eating area. Other rooms have views of the city or the river. Each room has its own bathroom with free items and a hot tub. The lodge serves breakfast every day. You can get an American, continental, or full English/Irish breakfast from the spread. This place also serves gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian food.

The weather

Even though Rwanda is close to the equator, the weather there isn’t too bad. It’s called a tropical highland climate. Most of the time, the temperature is nice, between 19 ° C and 25 C.

Because they are so high up, some parts of the country can get very cool at night. At Lake Kivu in the west of the country, the weather is mild and temperate. In the mountains, it is cool, and the humidity can get pretty high at times. For the most part, the mountains are about 19 ° C warm. In general, it’s warmer in the east.

The infrastructure

It’s true that Congo’s road network isn’t very well developed, and only 2% of the roads are paved. These problems are mostly caused by the fact that it rains a lot in the Congo Basin, which makes building roads or trains hard. Because of this, waterways are chosen all over the country.
