Hikes and Nature Walks at Semuliki National ParkĀ 

Semuliki National Park, located in Uganda, is a stunning destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers alike. The park is known for its diverse ecosystems, including tropical rainforests, savannahs, hot springs, and the Rwenzori Mountains. Here are a few hikes and nature walks you can enjoy at Semuliki.

 

Kirumia Trail

This is the most popular hiking trail in Semuliki National Park. The trail takes you through the heart of the rainforest, where you can observe a wide variety of flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for primates, such as chimpanzees, as well as rare bird species. The hike usually takes around 4-6 hours round trip.

 

Sempaya Nature Walk

This guided nature walk takes you to the Sempaya Hot Springs, one of the major attractions in Semuliki. You’ll walk through the forest, crossing streams and encountering unique plant species. Once you reach the hot springs, you can witness the boiling water bubbling from the ground. The walk usually takes about 2-3 hours.

 

Mungilo Waterfall Trail

This trail leads you to the picturesque Mungilo Waterfall, offering a serene and refreshing experience. The hike takes you through the forest, following a meandering path along the river. Enjoy the lush green surroundings and the sights and sounds of the wildlife. The round trip typically takes around 3-4 hours.

 

Red Monkey Track

For a chance to spot the rare and elusive red colobus monkey, take the Red Monkey Track. This trail winds through the forest and offers an opportunity to observe various primate species, including the red colobus monkeys. The hike can last between 2-4 hours, depending on the location of the monkeys.
