Ishasha Wilderness Camp – Luxury accommodation in Queen Elizabeth NP
Ishasha Wilderness Camp – Luxury accommodation in Queen Elizabeth NP – Luxury Ishasha Wilderness Camp โ Tree climbing lions in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
For those who find great solace in nature, the luxurious Ishasha Wilderness Camp provides the perfect getaway. There are 10 large canvas tents in the camp, and they all have verandas that look out over the Ntungwe River. In addition to spacious, mosquito-netted mattresses, each room has its own private bathroom with a hot “bush” shower, a running water sink, and a “eco-friendly” toilet that flushes.
Although we often enjoy our meals “al fresco” along the river, the thatched central lounge and dining room provide for a cozy environment for both eating and relaxing. Guests may unwind with sundowners and exchange tales of the day around the outdoor fireplace as the sun goes down.
The luxury Ishasha wilderness camp is located within the park, so guests can expect to encounter a variety of animals, including elephants taking a dip in the river, buffalo munching on grass, and vervet monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys, which are resident species.
You could possibly be fortunate enough to see George, the solitary hippos, beside the camp. If you feel threatened by the animals, our vigilant security team is available 24/7 to accompany you. The ‘bush’ experience at Ishasha Wilderness Camp isn’t complete without the park’s bush breakfasts and sundowners.

Unlike, say, the Kenyan mara, which is drier. The Maramamgambo forest, Kazinga creek, Kaseny plains, and Kyambura George are all part of the park’s breathtaking scenery. The Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise may be read more about here.
When is Ishasha Sector at its Most Popular?
People may visit the Ishasha area and Queen Elizabeth National Park at any time of year. Most visitors to Uganda go during the dry months of December through February, as well as June, July, and August. Because there is less water in the park and lions are more visible at this time of year, it is ideal for a safari. For the best birding safaris, go during the rainiest months of April, May, October, and November.
What is the best place to stay in Ishasaha Sector if you want to see tree climbing lions?
There are a number of excellent lodging options in the area, such as the Ishasha Jungle Lodge, At the River Lodge, and Enjojo Lodge, however guests are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance, particularly during the busiest times of year. Whether you’re interested in seeing chimpanzees in Uganda or tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector, Monumental Expeditions and Safaris will help you plan the perfect vacation.
Avalanche Gorge The Queen Elizabeth National Park chimpanzee tracking project
Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge – Visitors to Kyambura Gorge learn more than just about chimpanzees and monkeys in their natural habitat; they also receive an education on the many plant and animal life forms found in the atmospheric “underground” rain forest, how to recognize and understand certain birds, and much more.
While it’s not certain that visitors will see or hear our distant relatives the chimps, there’s a fair likelihood that they will as they get accustomed. The tours depart every day at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and run anywhere from one to three hours. The Kyambura canyon in southern Uganda is home to primates and is situated in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Because of its proximity to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park is our go-to recommendation for customers seeking gorilla tracking and chimpanzee hikes in Kyambura Gorge.
Kyambura Gorge’s ideal time to visit
Although it’s considered a year-round sport, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge is best experienced between June and September or January and February, the country’s two dry seasons.
