Beach vacations and island trips on Ssese. In the northwest corner of Uganda’s Lake Victoria is an archipelago of eighty-four islands known as the Ssese Islands. The islands share a border with the landmass of the landless Kalangala District in central-southern Uganda.
The Entebbe Way to Sese Island
Docked at Lutoboka pier, about 300 meters from our hotel, is the MV Kalangala, which travels from Entebbe to the Ssese Islands.
A dependable and inexpensive way to go to the island, it can hold 108 passengers and 10 small cars, and the journey there is an adventure in and of itself, traveling through different landscapes. The trip leaves Entebbe every day at 2 pm and takes three hours, arriving at the Lutoboka dock around 5 pm.
From Masaka
The distance between Kampala and Nyendo (masaka) is 2.5 hours.
40 minutes travel time between Nyendo and Bukakata (Masaka).
The boat ride from Bukakata to Bugoma (the Sesese Islands) takes around 30 minutes.
Distance between Bugoma and Kalangala Town: forty minutes
The journey from Kalangala Town to Ssese Islands Beach takes about five minutes by car.

There are a wide variety of birds on the island. The Bird Paradise Park, established by the Ssese Islands Beach Hotel, is a great spot to see a wide variety of birds.
Fishing for Fun
There are a number of fishing possibilities available to guests. From our jetty, you may cast your line into the depths of Lake Victoria, or you can charter a motorboat equipped with a Fish Finder and go fishing. We have a huge BBQ grill where you may prepare your catch or ask our chef to do it for you. You may reserve all of these activities in advance.

Sip a sunset cocktail while gazing out over Lake Victoria. In the evening, unwind with a drink by our night campfire while taking in one of Ssese’s world-famous sunsets. Savor succulent grilled meats and crisp, fresh veggies at our beachside BBQ.
Nature strolls through forests
Rediscover the joy of nature on this island by going on a stroll in its verdant forests, where you may marvel at some of the finest hardwoods and softwoods found in Africa. Birds, insects, and butterflies all thrive in the lush, verdant habitat provided by the trees.
Cultural and village strolls.
It is not only acceptable, but expected, to drop by the house of a complete stranger and spend quality time with them during the S.I.B.H. led village tour.
Riding a quad.
Come along as we ride through the villages and palm fields that make up the heart of Ssese. Prior knowledge of operating a motor vehicle is not required. Prior to embarkation, a training session is held. Puddles of water are much better than mud.
Paddleboard excursions.
Canoeing is a great way to relax and unwind as you float around the tranquil waters of Lake Victoria. Soak up some sun and enjoy nature’s beauty.
Banana boat excursions.
For a fun and refreshing day on the lake, consider going on a banana boat ride with your loved ones. This is an exciting and novel attraction. Not everyone can claim to have experienced the exhilaration of gliding over the lake in an enormous banana-powered watercraft.
Locations for camping.
On your camping vacation, you may enjoy nature at its finest. Guests of the Ssese Islands Beach Hotel may enjoy a campsite that is literally on the beach.
Visit the islands on a boat ride.
Go to other islands via boat. You should bring a picnic lunch, a few beverages, and either an aperitif to enjoy as the sun goes down or breakfast to enjoy as the sun rises.
A motorbike tour around the island.
It might be an adventure to ride a boda boda on your own or to ride shotgun with a local driver.
