The Nile Perch, one of the biggest freshwater fish in the world, may be caught on fishing safaris in Uganda on Lake Victoria and the River Nile. Our customers who are interested in fishing safaris and have some spare time may enjoy a day of fishing on Lake Victoria.

With our half-day and full-day “catch and release” Nile Perch trips on Lake Victoria and the River Nile, as well as our trained and experienced skippers who are fluent in English, we guarantee the finest sites and tactics.

On our fishing excursions, we employ speedboats that are 18 to 30 feet long and driven by twin outboard motors. These boats have a great seating capacity, but we can only allow four persons to fish at once. For smaller parties of 2-3 anglers, we also have fiber glass 24-foot-long “canoes” that are driven by an outboard motor. These boats are ideal for day outings.

Every boat has a sunshade, rain gear (the lake can become rather choppy), cell phones, life vests, basic first aid kits, and fire extinguishers for your protection. For your sustenance throughout your fishing expeditions, we also stock our onboard cooler with cold beverages and nibbles.

You are welcome to bring your own lures and gear, but we provide everything you need to trot for perch. Each boat may use up to four lines. Prior to disembarking, the cost of any damaged or missing items must be paid for. Damaged or lost lures may cost anything from twenty to twenty-five dollars pesos.

Typical departure times for our Uganda Fishing Safaris are 9:00 am or 1:00 pm, with arrival times of either 12:00 pm or 5:00 pm. A full day on the water typically lasts around 8 hours, while a half day is roughly 4 hours. Guests of Entebbe and Murchison Falls National Park may go on fishing safaris in and around the islands in Lake Victoria, which is around a 45-minute boat ride away.

The fishing spots will be chosen based on the current conditions and the bite patterns of the fish. While fishing on the Nile is usually quiet, there are times of year when the lake may be rather turbulent with big waves, therefore we make use of the protected coves. An assortment of beverages, including tea, coffee, mineral water, soda, and beer, is included with the picnic meal. Anyone fishing is welcome to bring their own refreshments.

You should pack plenty of sun protection, including hats, sunglasses, and creams, since the weather can become rather hot—the typical daytime temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius. You should wear sandals or spikes since your feet are likely to become wet, particularly while boarding and alighting from the boat.

A camera (to video “the big fish” if you so choose), insect repellant, and binoculars (for birdwatching, of course) are all wonderful ideas. While shorts and tees are usually OK for the day, it’s wise to bring a raincoat just in case, and a sweater or light jacket for the nights and colder temperatures.
