Visit Bwabwata National Park Namibia – Wildlife Safaris tours.

Located in northern Namibia, the 6,274 km² Visit Bwabwata National Park was created in 2007. The Mahango Game Reserve and Caprivi Game Park were merged to form it. On the Caprivi Strip, it stretches out into the areas of Zambezi and Kavango East. Things to Anticipate in Caprivi

Several parks and reserves make up the Caprivi Strip, a breathtaking safari location in Namibia ideal for birdwatching and wildlife viewing from both land and water. The Kwando, Okavango, Linyanti, Chobe, and Zambezi Rivers all meet here. Located on the border of Angola, Botswana, and Zambia, the Caprivi Strip is a popular tourist destination adjacent to Chobe National Park, the Okavango Delta, and Victoria Falls, as well as the southern point of Zimbabwe.

On the banks of the Okavango River in Namibia is Rundu, the westernmost point of entry to the Caprivi. The eastern border town of Katima Mulilo, which is home to an airport and a thriving local market, is the next stop on the main route as it winds its way towards the Zambian border. In the extreme eastern corner of the Caprivi Strip, at the confluence of the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers, is Impalila Island, a famous tourist destination. Seasonal migrations of animals cross the river between Botswana and Namibia’s Caprivi since neither country has a well defined boundary with the other.

Enjoy wildlife drives, bush hikes, fishing, boating, canoeing, and cultural tours while staying in riverbank lodges and camps, on islands, or houseboats in the northern Namibian Caprivi Strip. Elephants, buffalo, lions, hippos, crocodiles, leopards, antelopes, and many birds are all on the horizon. The roads can only be reached by 4×4 vehicles due to the area’s remoteness. Some places work nicely together on a well-organized self-drive vacation, or you may plan a fly-in schedule to some resorts that are harder to reach.

Caprivi Safaris, Excursions, Vacations, and Tourism

Four of the Big Five may be found on the Caprivi Strip, which is home to a diverse array of wildlife. The animals migrate periodically across unfenced national parks and over the unmarked boundary of Botswana. Big groups of elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, wild dogs, and antelopes including reedbuck, waterbuck, sable, tsessebe, and sable-colored antelopes are all on display.

The sundowners

Floating pontoons for sundowners. A wonderful way to unwind is to go on a boat safari, a sunset cruise, or a canoe trip. Houseboats provide the perfect vantage point from which to take in the passing landscape and wildlife that congregates at the water’s edge during peak viewing periods. With over 400 species reported, the Caprivi Strip is also a great place for birding safaris. This is more than any other area in Namibia.

Caprivi is home to some of the world’s finest sports fish.

In the west, the Okavango River empties into the Okavango Delta after entering the Caprivi Strip. In the center, the Kwando River forms the Linyanti Wetlands and then changes its course to become the Chobe River, which separates Botswana from Nambia. Before the enormous Victoria Falls drop, the vast Zambezi River marks the eastern boundary between Namibia and Zambia.

The best way to arrive
On the Trans Caprivi route (B8), 900 kilometers (560 miles) from Windhoek is Bwabwata. It is more common for visitors to go on self-drive safaris rather than guided tours of the park. Lodges outside the park have airstrips, so chartered flights may be arranged. Most travelers start their adventure in Namibia at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), which is situated 40km/25mi east of Windhoek and is the major entrance point. From here, they hire a 4 x 4. Arranging a fly-in trip and using charter planes to go to other locations is another possibility.

When should one go?

You may visit Bwabwata at any time of year, but the best time to see animals is during the dry season (June to September). Because there has been no precipitation, plants have withered, and animals gather near watering holes, making them easier to see.
